Muslim Man Shot Dead in Delhi While Defending His Son

A 35-year-old man was shot dead in Nand Nagri, Delhi, while attempting to rescue his 15-year-old son during an altercation. Police have registered a murder case and pledged to arrest those responsible.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A 35-year-old man identified as Mohammad Umaruddin was shot dead in the Nand Nagri area of Delhi after he rushed to rescue his 15-year-old son from an altercation.

According to police reports and statements from family members, the incident occurred on February 17 near a government school in Nand Nagri. His son, Tehjeem, had reportedly called his father to say he was being attacked by a group of individuals. Relatives allege that the assailants used anti-Muslim slurs during the assault.

Umaruddin immediately went to the scene to defend his son. During the confrontation, the attackers reportedly retreated into a nearby house but, according to witnesses, continued hurling verbal abuse. One individual then allegedly emerged from the house with a firearm and fired multiple shots at Umaruddin, striking him in the chest.

Local residents have expressed concern over the recurrence of violence and called for strengthened security measures in the area. According to reports by Hindustan Live, people from various communities participated in protest gatherings, demanding swift justice and accountability from authorities. Police said a murder case has been registered and pledged to apprehend those responsible.
